My short and sweet take on the MLS Cup ticketing debacle – because I dont have time to write a novel right now!
1000 tix to the visiting team and their fans is a complete joke! If the Cup is going to be at a non-neutral location, ticket allocation needs to be much closer to 50%. 1000 tix to RSL and fans is only about 5%. After RSL allocates all of theirs that only leaves a few hundred for RSL fans and that simply is not fair. This is ridiculous. Think of the economics MLS! I think you could easily sell 10K tix to RSL fans who would fly to, rent cars, pay for hotels, dine and shop in the host city (KC) and infuse millions of dollars into the local economy and tax revenue for the city, county and state. Giving 18K tickets to locals will not bear nearly the same economic fruits. This model is absurd and needs to be reconsidered, hopefully prior to the Cup.
