RSL Fans, I have been up since 3AM traveling back to Utah and I need some sleep.  I have a busy day full of commitments tomorrow as well so I am not going to write a full match report right now but I wanted to share a couple of thoughts after tonight’s marvelous RSL win at the HDC.

I just finished watching the match (10:30PM).  I watched it delayed as my 13-year-old son had a match at the same time as the RSL match.

How good does it feel to go to the HDC and get a convincing win against LA in their house?  This may be the feel-good win of the season for me so far.  I am so ecstatic with the result.  RSL will likely hang onto the 2nd seed in the West heading into the playoffs after tonight’s match.

Fabian Espindola was an absolute beast! I am so excited about his brace, scoring 2 goals in three minutes to ruin the Galaxy’s evening.  His recent return to form has been phenomenal; a goal 3 weeks ago, 3 assists last week and 2 goals this week!  I loved his goal celebration on the first goal.  Pretty sure he screamed “bolas” as he made his interesting gesture.  Those of you who understand Latin culture will understand what he meant and get a good laugh out of that!  I laughed pretty hard!

The match was not perfect, especially our defense in the first half but despite that our boys played hard and deserved the win.

Revenge is sweet! Few things this season have bothered me as bad as losing to LA at home and I pretty much feel redemption after taking it to them twice at the HDC this season.  RSL sweep the HDC on the road this year!  First team in MLS history to beat LA twice at the HDC in a season!

Holy corner kick hell bat man, it felt like we couldn’t get out of there at times but the boys defended admirably under pressure and did not concede one goal on a set piece, despite LA’s potency on these plays.

Keane’s goal was amazing; I have to give him credit.  A beautiful one time, left footed volley that few players in the league can make.

Javi had a pretty solid game and continues his return to his former self.  He held up and distributed the ball really well.

My Man of the Match is Fabi but I think Javi, Gil Borchers and Olave all turned in commendable performances.

I worry about Beltran, I don’t feel like he has had a very solid season and is often exposing his weaknesses in shutting down the attack.  Really like him but feel like there is room for improvement.

Beckham’s behavior continues to be a disgrace with his whining and antics.  What a pleasure to see RSL rain on his pretty boy parade!

Lets go RSL, time to focus on our last two regular season games and then getting the MLS Cup!  A hard working well deserved 3 points for ReAL tonight!
